When reviewing housing accommodation requests, disability resource professionals often ask themselves at what point does a student's personal residential preference end and an equal access need begin? This session, led by two members of the Student Accessibility Services team at the University of Central Florida (UCF) will unpack how to utilize the interactive process to navigate complex housing accommodation requests to assess access versus preference. The presenters will provide an inside look at UCF’s housing accommodation request process, including procedural upgrades that optimize their office’s framework. Participants will also discover how to identify and leverage key campus stakeholders to build a smoother workflow and examine essential elements to elevate the housing accommodation interactive process at their own institution.
